Overview of Program

Three different concert bands are offered at North Central High School. Students are placed in one of the four ensembles based on an audition or director recommendation. The concert bands are the core of the band offerings. The three concert bands are designed to allow students to progress through the program. Each ensemble offers varying levels of difficulty of the concepts, technical challenges, and the music studied. All three concert bands perform regular concerts throughout the school year, in addition to performing at the ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) organizational contest in the spring, and various community events.

The three concert bands include Concert Winds, Symphonic Winds, and the Wind Ensemble. The NCHS Wind Ensemble is the premier ensemble in the program and has been the selected ISSMA State Concert Band Champions in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011. The NCHS Wind Ensemble was also featured at the 2006 and 2016 IMEA convention and the 2009 MENC Central Division conference.
